Medic-Safe
Medic-Safe is a patient health record platform designed to improve continuity of care in Nigeria by digitising medical records and making them securely accessible across healthcare providers. The product replaces fragmented, paper-based records with a controlled digital system that prioritises accuracy, access, and patient consent.
Problem
In Nigeria, medical records are largely paper-based and siloed within individual healthcare facilities. Research showed that records are frequently lost or inaccessible during emergencies or hospital transfers, retrieval is slow and inefficient, and there is no trusted system that maintains continuity of care across providers. These gaps increase the risk of incomplete treatment histories, repeated tests, and medical errors, directly impacting patient outcomes.
Product Strategy and Decisions
● Defined continuity of care as the core problem, not general hospital digitisation, to keep the MVP focused and testable. ● Prioritised usability over feature breadth by focusing the MVP on record upload, retrieval, and consent workflows instead of hospital system integrations. ● Designed role-based access control where patients could view but not upload records, while healthcare providers could upload records only with patient authorisation. This prioritised data integrity and clinical accuracy over unrestricted access. ● Explored blockchain-based record verification as a future enhancement to strengthen data integrity, while deliberately excluding it from the MVP to avoid adoption friction and technical overhead.
Key Responsibilities
● Authored PRD and BRD ● Led user research, survey design, and persona development ● Facilitated sprint planning and daily stand-ups ● Coordinated usability testing ● Product roadmap design ● Designed product roadmap and MVP scope ● Prepared and delivered investor pitch
